Lagow's method to synthesize hydroxyapatite allows the material to retain interconnected pores throughout processing. Depending on reaction and processing, the pores sized can be controlled as shown by samples with 250-µm pores (left) and with mixed pore sizes of 250 µm and 400 µm (right).
