C&EN 75th Anniversary Issue

Celebrating 125 years of chemistry

ACS History

Founded on April 6, 1876, the American Chemical Society has grown to become the world's largest scientific association, with more than 163,000 members. Through the years, ACS has dedicated itself to the advancement of the chemical enterprise and its myriad practitioners. This special issue of Chemical & Engineering News, the official organ of the society, celebrates ACS by examining some of the milestones in its illustrious past and its present structure for serving the profession. Between these two sections, C&EN features the thoughts and aspirations of 171 young chemists, chemical engineers, and business leaders, who collectively describe a vibrant and challenging future for the chemical enterprise.
