Each year, a budding science writer gets the chance to hone their craft at Chemical & Engineering News, the weekly newsmagazine of the American Chemical Society.
C&EN reports current events in the chemical enterprise, including recent advances in research, education, industry, funding, and regulatory policy. C&EN interns contribute to a print magazine that reaches all 160,000 some members of the ACS each week and an online edition that receives 14 million page views per year.
As a C&EN intern, you'll have the opportunity to observe and participate in the process by which research findings become news. You'll also get to fine-tune your ability to convey complex technical subjects to diverse range of chemical professionals.
Our interns are highly motivated students or recent graduates with demonstrated interest in science writing and at least a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a related field. They write both bylined news and feature stories for publication in C&EN.
Our internships are paid and last six months, beginning in May or June. Interns are ideally based in our Washington, DC, headquarters; however, exceptional candidates unable to relocate may be considered.
