Stevens Institute of TechnologyStevens Institute of Technology is a pioneer in technical education and a highly regarded independent center of study and research. Stevens was founded in 1870 and is located in Hoboken, NJ. The campus sits on a cliff overlooking the Hudson River, 15 minutes from New York City by bus, ferry, or subway. Total graduate and undergraduate enrollment is about 3400. Stevens, a leader in integrating computers into engineering and science education, has excellent computing facilities and a campus-wide computer network. Stevens offers B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs in engineering, science, computer science, and management. The mission of the graduate school is to provide high-quality education beyond the bachelors degree in specific areas of engineering, science, and management. The graduate school strives to ensure the continual relevance of its programs and to keep the community keenly aware of national and international needs, developments, and trends in education, research, and technology. At the masters level, a strong emphasis is placed on providing the flexibility required for responding to a rapidly changing technological environment. In addition to reaching the boundaries of current technological practice, Stevens provides the rigor necessary for more advanced studies that may lead later to doctoral degrees.
