Reverse transcription. The ImProm-II system is an optimized set of reagents designed for efficient, robust synthesis of first-strand cDNA in preparation for PCR amplification. The components can be used to reverse-transcribe RNA templates starting with total RNA, poly (A)+ mRNA, or synthetic transcript RNA.

These units are designed for the efficient manipulation of small volumes of chromatography supports and come in three formats: spin cup columns/mini-spin columns, resin separators, and microcentrifuge tubes. DNA extraction. The AutoGrinder 48 provides complete automation of plant sample grinding. Users can put plant material and one or two zirconium beads into AutoGen tube units, freeze them, and place them onto the AutoGrinder 48, which holds up to 48 samples at a time and completes the grinding process in 2 min.
RT-PCR. AccessQuick is a system for setting up one-tube RT-PCR reactions. It is designed to increase the convenience of performing RT-PCR reactions by combining reaction components in two vials. The system is stable for multiple freeze–thaw cycles.
Pierce 156 Workstation. The Universal Sample Preparation Workstation is a flexible, modular platform that incorporates vial identification and tracking; fully automated weighing; dilution, dissolution, and mixing by either sonicationor vortexing;barcode reading; capping-process-recapping of vials; and liquid dispensing by syringes or disposable pipet tips. Mass spectrometer. The IV series MALDI-TOF instrument features improved specifications, a new industrial design, and a Windows NT/2000-based user interface. This high-throughput research-grade device can be used for a wide variety of routine and advanced mass spectral analyses. It is available in linear or gridless reflectron configurations and is suitable for proteomics, SNP genotyping, and other life science MS applications. Pipet. The HandyStep Electronic Repeating Pipette is compatible with most standard syringe tips for increased convenience and cost efficiency. It dispenses volumes from 1.0 µL to 50 mL and comes with a charging stand and rechargeable NiMH battery. Reagent. The RNA/DNA/Protein Isolation Reagent provides a single-step method for total RNA isolation. It is the only method that offers simultaneous isolation of RNA, DNA, and protein from a single biological sample of human, animal, plant, or viral origin. RNA isolation is complete in less than 1 h, and DNA and protein isolations take less than 3 h. Kit. The PAGEprep Protein Clean-Up and Enrichment Kit is a complete system for preparing samples for improved SDS-PAGE and 2-D gel analysis. The kit uses a modified diatomaceous earth (mDE) resin to bind all the protein in a sample. A 20-µL sample aliquot of the mDE slurry is mixed in a batch format with 5–400 µL of sample using a microcentrifuge. Software. Elite Image Analysis Software incorporates all of the company’s research imaging modules into one package. It features automation wizards and support for a wide range of analog and digital CCD cameras, motorized microscope stages, shutters, and filter wheels. The software includes application-specific study types, such as fluorescence microscopy, dynamic fluorescence, quantitative autoradiography, gel/blot analysis, stereology, 3-D reconstruction, and automated montaging. Digital camera. Leica DC 150, DC 300, DC 300F, DC 350F, and DC 500 digital imaging systems provide customized solutions for applications in research, development, industry, biology, and medicine. Camera optics and software ensure top image quality; flicker-free images; and high resolution, contrast, sharpness, sensitivity, brilliance, and color fidelity. Spectrophotometer. This FLASHScan S12 has multichannel technology and measures samples in microplate wells in seconds. Software supports microplate formats with 6, 12, 24, 48, 96, and 384 wells for high-throughput screening. The FLASHScan S12 can also be used as a workstation and can be fully integrated into robot systems.
Handbook. The 8th edition of the Handbook of Fluorescent Probes and Research Products on CD-ROM contains comprehensive technical and application information for more than 2500 products. The handbook includes a considerably expanded list of antibody conjugates and information on new technology for proteomics, genomics, and high-throughput screening applications. All of the information on the CD-ROM is easy-to-use, searchable, and compatible with any Java-capable browser. Software. MICROLAB Vector is for laboratory automation programming and integration. Protocols are created in a flexible Windows-based environment with a combination of general program functions and instrument-specific commands. The user has extensive control over the protocol as well as specific parameters. Vector also allows multiple instrument selection and integration in the same software environment. One protocol can be created to incorporate all selected instruments without additional software or complicated programming. Microplates. Glutathione Immobilizer microplates and strips allow fast, easy, and highly reproducible detection of glutathione S-transferase (GST)-tagged fusion proteins or purified GST. Covalently bound glutathione in the wells provides a unique 3-D surface for fast one-step, reproducible, efficient coupling to GST-tagged fusion proteins or purified GST in samples, with no time-consuming preactivation or blocking steps. Signal-to-noise ratios are high even at low sample concentrations, and the detection limit, when measured at 1 OD, is as low as 10 ng/mL. Calibration kits. This line of three ProteoMass calibration and optimization kits comes in convenient pack configurations. The kits contain everything that proteomics researchers need for MALDI optimization, including multiple protein and peptide standards, matrices, and solvents. All components have been preweighed and can be used to target any mass range between 700 and 67,000 Da.
Flow cassette. The Pellicon XL 50 tangential-flow cassette with a Durapore membrane is offered with six composite regenerated cellulose membranes and nine polyethersulfone membranes ranging from 5 to 1000K. The device is used for a variety of process development and sample preparation applications of volumes up to 1000 mL. It is an easy-to-use TFF screening tool for use with small volumes and for scaling. Primary applications include cell harvesting and clarification, preparation of material for clinical trials, concentration and desalting of proteins, buffer exchange, and depyrogenation.
Subminiature valve. This latching solenoid valve is designed for applications that demand ultralow power, low heat, and small size. It is ideal for compact, battery-powered pneumatic instruments, such as portable oxygen delivery systems, environmental gas samplers, and other OEM flow switching devices. This valve is magnetically latched and requires only momentary (10 ms) pulses of current to switch the state. It consumes only 2.8 mW·s per switch and has reliable bistable performance. Available in a flexible plug-in configuration, the valve measures 1.12 in. long x 0.28 in. in diameter for compact manifold applications.
